Dear Sir/Madam,

It is not a practice in most of the schools in Uganda to have clean water for drinking, and which children can access after using a pit latrine, and in the absence of toilet paper, children use bare hands to clean themselves.A child with such contamination, not only endangers own life, but also the lives of others, who may end up sharing eats/drinks.Chances of contamination are great, yet the children in many of these schools have no measures in place to see that the eats are cleaned/washed.This is in case of fruits mangoes, oranges, etc which are normally contaminated on falling to the ground. It is also true that many of these schools do not put covers on on the latrine holes, which allows houseflies to contaminate children\'s eats and drinks.

We are inquiring whether AKVO can support us to provide water and sanitation to ten (10)primary schools in Nabwigulu Sub-county in Kamuli district. This will include:

-Harvesting rain water with plastic tanks and water gutters.

-Availing water containers for storage of water for drinking.

-Putting in place water cans with tap outlets at every pit latrine.

-Ensuring that all pit latrines have covers,so that school children leave the holes covered and doors closed.

-Making sure that pit latrines have toilet paper and soap for school children to clean themselves and wash their hands.

If implemented, the project will see improved sanitation and hygiene in all the schools selected, reduced illnesses(dysentery, diarrhoea and typhoid),less absenteeism, and better performance in academics and other school activities.

We will be grateful for your positive response.

Yours sincerely,

    Dear Thomas

Thank you for your interest in Akvo and allow me to introduce myself: My name is Adrian Collier and I work within the Partner team at the Akvo Foundation.

While Akvo works with many different partners, we do not ourselves perform the function of supporting individual projects on our platform.

Each project on Akvo has a Field and Support Partner. The Field Partner is often the implementing organization while the Support Partner is a larger NGO who amongst many things is responsible for the quality control of the project. More information on our partner criteria can be read here: http://www.akvo.org/web/partner_rules

This means that we need to find you a Support Partner who would want to support you and your project. Here is a list of our current Support Partners: http://www.akvo.org/rsr/organisations/support/. There might be one in that list who can help. All the contact details are available on their organization pages. You can also introduce us to new Support Partners.
