I visited your site and found that according to AVKO at http://www.akvo.org/wiki/index.php/Boiling, the cost of boiling 1 liter of water is around US$ 0.01
Could you please let me know how did you arrive to that number?
I am asking this because I found at a different source that the range for the cost of boiling water was between US$ 0.02 and US$ 0.10
I am in Peru (South America) trying to manage a project for water sanitization in rural and poor urban areas and want to compare the boiling cost to the plasma water sanitization system processing cost that I have

    Dear Dario,

There is no real fixed amount for the price of boiling water - it depends on the price of fuel. The best thing to do is find estimates of the amount of (locally used) fuel you need to boil one liter of water, and multiply by the local price. Especially in rural areas the price of fuel can vary widely, for example if kerosin or wood is used.

    Dear Dario,

I am not sure I have that source - I think it came from a CAWST article. But I wouldn't take it too seriously - from the table you can see that the figure over 5 years is quoted as 0-120$.

Here are some links with different figures:
